Call to Order:
Treasurer Janet B. Santner was appointed (temporarily) Madam Chair for this
particular meeting until the newly elected Commissioners take their Oath of
Office and select their assign positions.
Madam Chair Santner called the Board of Fire Commissioners’ meeting
to order at 7:00 p.m.

New
Commissioners Take Oath / Elect Positions:
Fire Chief
Miller administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected Board of Fire
Commissioners. Afterwards, the North Bay Fire Control District Board of Fire
Commissioners selected their new positions.
The new positions are: James R. Miller as Chairman; Timothy K.
Stapleton as Vice Chairman; Janet B. Santner as Treasurer; Barry M. Reed as
Vice Treasurer; and William E. Schaal as Secretary.
The newly assigned positions became effective immediately.
This was accomplished on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 7:07 p.m.

Old Business
The minutes of
the November 13, 2008 meeting were reviewed.
On page 3, the last paragraph, lines 1 and 2, reads

The November
30, 2008 Financial Statement Report was reviewed.
Commissioner Stapleton made a motion to accept the Financial
Statement Report as written, motion seconded by Commissioner Santner.
Commissioner Miller voted in favor, Commissioner Stapleton voted in
favor, Commissioner Santner voted in favor, Commissioner Reed voted in
favor, and Commissioner Schaal voted in favor.
All in favor, motion carried.
Chairman Miller
turned the meeting over to Fire Chief Miller for report on new business.

New Business
Fire Chief
Miller congratulated our newly appointed Board of Fire Commissioners.
As with any new appointment, Fire Chief Miller recommended to the
Board of Fire Commissioners to hold a North Bay Fire Control District
Workshop. The workshop will
provide an overview of the entire Fire District Operations.
Chief Miller opened the floor for discussion.
After further discussion, the Board of Fire Commissioners agreed to
hold a workshop on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at 4:30 p.m., at the North
Bay Fire Control District.
Fire Chief
Miller briefed the Board of Fire Commissioners on the Fire District’s Live
Fire Burn Training Session held on Thursday, November 20, 2008.
The training took place in the back part of the Fire District.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that Treasurer Santner has
purchased a Certificate of Deposit from Bank of America.
The purchase was made on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, for the amount
of $323,000.00. The nine (9)
month term CD has an interest rate of 2.48% and an annual percentage yield
rate of 2.51%. The maturity
date is August 26, 2009.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that Ms Susan Rimsa, a
Certified Public Accountant for Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLP, is currently
conducting the Annual Financial Audit for the North Bay Fire Control
District.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that the North Bay Fire
Control District Annual Appreciation Dinner will be held on Saturday,
December 13, 2008, at the Bluewater Bay Clubhouse Restaurant.
The Social begins at 6:00 p.m., and
the Dinner (buffet
style) at 7:00 p.m. Please RSVP to
Ralph no later than Thursday, December 11, 2008.

Fire Chief Miller
announced the “Employment Anniversary” for the month of December to Firefighter
Nathaniel Ark (December 18th) for 2 years of dedicated service to the
North Bay Fire Control District.
Congratulations to Firefighter Ark for a job well done!
Fire Chief Miller
announced “Happy Birthday Greetings” for the month of December to Firefighter
Zaal (Dec 5th); Firefighter Mitchell (Dec 10th); and
Assistant Fire Chief Jordan (Dec 27th).
Many happy returns and many more to come!
Assistant Fire
Chief Jordan presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the Assistant Fire
Chief’s Report for November 2008.
Assistant Fire
Chief Jordan presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the November 2008
Fire Incident Run Report. The North
Bay Fire Control District responded to a total of 63 incidents: 1 Dumpster fire;
1 illegal fire; 2 structure fires; 1 vehicle fire; 4 motor vehicle accidents; 35
medicals; 10 canceled enroutes; 4 false alarms/alarm activations; 2 good
intents; and 3 service calls. This
brings the total to 748 alarm runs for the year.
Dollar loss for the year is $436,700.00.
Fire
Marshal Losinger presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the Fire
Marshal’s Report for November 2008.
Division
Chief Parker presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the District’s
Training Report for November 2008.
The next Board of
Fire Commissioners’ Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 7:00
p.m., at the North Bay Fire Control District,
