Chairman Miller called the Board of Fire Commissioners’ meeting to order at
7:00 p.m.

Old Business
The minutes of
the May 12, 2009 meeting were reviewed.
Commissioner Stapleton made a motion to accept the minutes as
written, motion seconded by Commissioner Reed.
Commissioner Miller voted in favor, Commissioner Stapleton voted in
favor, Commissioner Reed voted in favor, and Commissioner Schaal voted in
favor. All in favor, motion
carried.
The May 31,
2009 Financial Statement Report was reviewed.
Commissioner Stapleton made a motion to accept the Financial
Statement Report as written, motion seconded by Commissioner Schaal.
Commissioner Miller voted in favor, Commissioner Stapleton voted in
favor, Commissioner Reed voted in favor, and Commissioner Schaal voted in
favor. All in favor, motion
carried.
Chairman Miller
turned the meeting over to Fire Chief Miller to report on new business.

New Business
Fire Chief
Miller reminded the Board of Fire Commissioners to submit their Financial
Disclosure (Form 1, Statement of Financial Interest) with the Supervisor of
Elections on or before Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
Fire Chief
Miller briefed the Board of Fire Commissioners on the Okaloosa County
Property Appraiser Forthcoming Preliminary Assessment Roll for 2009-2010.
These are preliminary figures for use in the planning stages of our
operational budget. The Final
Certificate of Taxable Value (DR-420) of the Preliminary Assessment Roll
will be delivered to the North Bay Fire Control District on or before,
Wednesday, July 1, 2009. In the
meantime, Fire Chief Miller opened the floor for discussion on proposed
budget figures. Chairman Miller
recommended to Fire Chief Miller to prepare a proposed budget and have it
readily available for a date to be determined.
The proposed budget must consist of what it takes to operate the
mission of the North Bay Fire Control District.
Fire Chief
Miller briefed the Board of Fire Commissioners on the Okaloosa County
Property Appraiser fees for 2009-2010.
The Property Appraiser budget request for fiscal year 2009-2010 is
$3,215,252.00. The Property
Appraiser’s current proposed billing for the North Bay Fire Control District
is $23,188.52. These are
preliminary figures for use in the planning stages of our operational
budget.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that the North Bay Fire
Control District received a Request for Grant Funds in the amount of
$22,555.00 on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.
The funds were allocated to cover expenses for all the construction,
gym equipment and helps pay for the Personal Trainer.
Fire Chief
Miller announced to the Board of Fire Commissioners that the Truth in
Millage (TRIM) Workshop will not be available in the local area.
The nearest workshops will be held at
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that Ms Susan Rimsa, a
Certified Public Accountant for Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLP, is currently
conducting the Annual Financial Audit for the North Bay Fire Control
District. Ms Susan Rimsa plans
to give a final outbrief to the Board of Fire Commissioners on Tuesday, July
14, 2009.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that the vacant position for
a Trustee (Board Member) for the North Bay Firefighters Pension Trust Fund
is still available. Former
Trustee Mr Christian F. Dreyer, Jr., submitted his Letter of Resignation in
April 2009. Mr Dreyer served as
a Trustee for over 2 years.
Fire Chief Miller
announced the “Employment Anniversary” for the month of June to Division Chief
Parker (June 15th) for 20 years of dedicated service, to Firefighter
Harris (June 20th) for 3 years of dedicated service, to Firefighter
Thurston (June 22nd) for 3 years of dedicated service, and to
Firefighter Adair (June 27th) for 4 years of dedicated service to the
North Bay Fire Control District.

Fire Chief Miller
announced “Happy Birthday Greetings” for the month of June 2009 to Firefighter
Stilla (June 7th). Many
happy returns and many more to come!
Fire Chief Miller
presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the Assistant Fire Chief’s Report
for May 2009. Assistant Fire Chief
Jordan was unavailable (excused absence).
Fire Chief Miller
presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the May 2009 Fire Incident Run
Report. The North Bay Fire Control
District responded to a total of 65 incidents: 1 dumpster fire; 5 motor vehicle
accidents; 40 medicals; 7 canceled enroutes; 5 false alarms/alarm activations; 1
good intent; 5 service calls and 1 hazardous material response.
This brings the total to 344 alarm runs for the year.
Dollar loss for the year is $23,000.00.
Fire
Marshal Losinger presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the Fire
Marshal’s Report for May 2009.
Division
Chief Parker presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the District’s
Training Report for May 2009.

Miller asked if there were any comments from the floor before adjournment.
There were no other comments.

Fire Commissioners’ Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 7:00
p.m., at the North Bay Fire Control District,
