Call to Order:
Chairman Miller called the Board of Fire Commissioners’ meeting to order at
7:00 p.m.

There were no public inputs

Old Business
The minutes of
the April 14, 2009 meeting were reviewed.
Commissioner Santner made a motion to accept the minutes as written,
motion seconded by Commissioner Reed.
Commissioner Miller voted in favor, Commissioner Stapleton voted in
favor, Commissioner Santner voted in favor, and Commissioner Reed voted in
favor. All in favor, motion
carried.
The April 30,
2009 Financial Statement Report was reviewed.
Commissioner Stapleton made a motion to accept the Financial
Statement Report as written, motion seconded by Commissioner Reed.
Commissioner Miller voted in favor, Commissioner Stapleton voted in
favor, Commissioner Santner voted in favor, and Commissioner Reed voted in
favor. All in favor, motion
carried.
Chairman Miller
turned the meeting over to Fire Chief Miller to report on new business.

New Business
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that the North Bay
Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF, Local 3505, and the North Bay
Fire Control District are ready to begin negotiations for a new Union
Contract. At the April 14, 2009
meeting, the Board of Fire Commissioners appointed Fire Chief Miller to
represent (primary negotiator) the North Bay Fire Control District for Union
Contract negotiation purposes.
Chief Miller asked the Board of Fire Commissioners to select a date and time
to meet with Chief Miller. The
Board of Fire Commissioners chose Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 4:30 p.m., at
the North Bay Fire Control District.
Commissioner Stapleton made a motion to approve the date and time for
their Special meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 4:30 p.m., motion
seconded by Commissioner Santner.
Commissioner Miller voted in favor, Commissioner Stapleton voted in
favor, Commissioner Santner voted in favor, and Commissioner Reed voted in
favor. All in favor, motion
carried. The administrator will
inform Commissioner Schaal about the special meeting.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that on Tuesday, April 21,
2009, the Okaloosa County Commissioners held their regular
Fire Chief
Miller announced to the Board of Fire Commissioners that on Friday, April
17, 2009, Commissioner Barry Reed spent the entire day with B Shift.
Commissioner Reed stated that Captain Oliver and his entire crew did
a great job, especially with their daily operations of the Fire District.
While visiting with B Shift, Commissioner Reed went on three (3)
medical calls.
Fire Chief
Miller informed the Board of Fire Commissioners that Ms Susan Rimsa, a
Certified Public Accountant for Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLP, is currently
conducting the Annual Financial Audit for the North Bay Fire Control
District. Ms Susan Rimsa plans
to give a final outbrief the Board of Fire Commissioners on Tuesday, June 9,
2009.
Fire Chief
Miller announced the “Employment Anniversary” for the month of May to Ralph
Banegas (May 7th) for 12 years of dedicated service to the North
Bay Fire Control District.
Congratulations to Ralph for a job well done!
Fire Chief
Miller announced “Happy Birthday Greetings” for the month of May 2009 to
Division Chief Parker (May 8th) and Firefighter/Paramedic
Thurston (May 9th).
Many happy returns and many more to come!
Assistant Fire
Chief Jordan presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the Assistant
Fire Chief’s Report for April 2009.
Assistant Fire
Chief Jordan presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the April 2009 Fire
Incident Run Report. The North Bay
Fire Control District responded to a total of 81 incidents: 2 structure fires; 2
illegal fires; 1 dumpster fire; 8 motor vehicle accidents; 43 medicals; 14
canceled enroutes; 3 false alarms/alarm activations; 3 good intents; and 5
service calls. This brings the
total to 279 alarm runs for the year.
Dollar loss for the year is $23,000.00.
Fire
Marshal Losinger presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the Fire
Marshal’s Report for April 2009.
Division
Chief Parker presented the Board of Fire Commissioners with the District’s
Training Report for April 2009.
Chairman
Miller asked if there were any comments from the floor before adjournment.
There were no other comments.
The next Board of
Fire Commissioners’ Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.,
at the North Bay Fire Control District,
